Choral Conducting Program

The mission of the Master of Music and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of Florida School of Music is to:

• PROVIDE performance-based musical training for the podium

• PROVIDE conducting students with knowledge of choral techniques, the language of rehearsing, and the skill set of clear and expressive conducting gestures

• PROVIDE ample podium time for graduate conducting students in front of multiple standing ensembles

• PREPARE the student with skills to conduct the master works with orchestra

• PROMOTE in the students a sense of creativity, artistry, and scholarship

• PROMOTE the ideal of community involvement in the arts and in the greater musical world

This degree prepares graduates for a diverse life in choral music, whether it be an academic career, a professional career, or a combination of the two.  

The program offers the following degrees: 

• Bachelor of Music Education (vocal)
• Master of Music in Choral Conducting
• Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting
