In addition to the scheduled rehearsal time for each choir, singers are expected to spend time outside of the rehearsals preparing theirs music as needed.

Rehearsal resources are often provided to singers via Canvas.

Yes. All UF choirs offer 1 academic credit.

Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Gainesville Master Chorale/Choral Union REQUIRE AN AUDITION to become a member. The Chorale and Glee Club are open-enrollment ensembles.

 Singers are strongly encouraged to have a prepared piece to sing. Audition pieces of any musical style are permitted. Please note that an accompanist may not be available for all audition times. A record accompaniment played from your phone or another device is permitted. Please check our Audition page for more information.

Returning singers are required to audition each fall.

By filling out the form, singers provide their information, like voice type, UFID, UF email, and phone number. This information is used for registration. 

You can register for  Chorale and Glee Club on your own, whether or not you are a music major. For Concert Choir , Chamber Singers, and Gainesville Master Chorale/Choral Union, if you are a music major you can register for these three ensembles following the posted results of your audition. If you are non-music major, you will be registered for these courses.

The Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Gainesville Master Chorale/Choral Union are under the direction of Dr. Will Kesling.

The Chorale and Glee Club are directed by Dr. James Cain.

UF choirs prepare and perform a very wide range of repertoire, from Renaissance to 21st century, from motets to choral-orchestra works. We also focus on music by historically underrepresented composers. The University of Florida choral department prides itself on diverse and inclusive programming.
